Toi Tamariki will recommence in the new school term, 2022. We are very grateful to our Runanga who are resourcing this awesome kaupapa by providing artists Miriama Grace-Smith and Wiremu Grace to teach our tamariki. A big mihi also to all whānau who tautoko this kaupapa by coming along with their tamariki and mokopuna on Wednesdays.

For those of us who do not know, Toi Tamariki is the name given for the Wednesday art classes attended by some of our Hongoeka primary school children, which takes place primarily in the wharekai basement at Hongoeka Marae. Other than the basement toi activity, an important start to the day takes place in the wharenui with karakia and waiata, followed by whakawhanaungatanga through games, and the tamariki have started learning the names and meanings of the kōwhaiwhai panels.
